18 years and a day ago, I left New York City and moved to London to study. Uncie came with me to help me move. The day after we arrived, we went to Tottenham Court Road where there are a bunch of electronics stores, to look for a cheap TV for my flat.

Dear Emma,

Grandpa spoke to Pa Pa Sandy’s doctor today. He told him he had a lot of enlarged lymph nodes. Grandpa will go to the doctor with him tomorrow. He will need a biopsy, but it doesn’t look good. Pa Pa is 96. On the one hand. It is to be expected but seeing him like this is sad. It would be hard for grandma.

Dear Emma,
​
You started kindergarten the week before last. You have a rainbow unicorn backpack that is almost as big as you. You’re taking the bus to and from school. The first morning you were so excited and nervous that you pushed through the line to get on the bus. The boy you pushed past looked a bit shocked. We spoke about not pushing to get on the bus when you got home and also pausing to say hello to the bus driver.
