Dear Emma,
You started kindergarten the week before last. You have a rainbow unicorn backpack that is almost as big as you. You’re taking the bus to and from school. The first morning you were so excited and nervous that you pushed through the line to get on the bus. The boy you pushed past looked a bit shocked. We spoke about not pushing to get on the bus when you got home and also pausing to say hello to the bus driver.

You lucked out with Ms. Purdy. You told us she is your # 1. She told us she loves and cares for the kids like they are her own and we are already seeing that that wasn’t just lip service.
Luckily, Ms. Purdy sends us pictures and updates because it’s kind of hard to get information out of you when you get home. Mostly, you just want to jump in the pool and watch some fishing videos together.
Today you told us there was a girl in your class at your table telling a secret to another girl and that she told you she wasn’t going to tell you. It hurt your feelings. I know this is part of life and interacting with other beings and growing up, but it’s hard to hear those things.
I wonder if you got dessert in the cafeteria today. I hope you ate your lunch before rushing for the ice cream. Knowing you though, I doubt it. I’ll ask you when you get home. I love you my angel.
