Deb was clear from the very beginning about how important it was to her that her children are raised Jewish. She grew up in Peru, a predominantly Catholic country, with a tiny Jewish community consisting almost exclusively of people that had survived or escaped the Holocaust. Her grandmother survived three years in a camp and most of her family was wiped out.
One of the most challenging things about being in a relationship with Deb is how hard it can be at times to deal with our differences. We are so different from each other in pretty much every way except our core values, including our devotion to each other, to our family and to close friends.

Her grandmother survived three years in a camp and most of her family was wiped out. I had a session yesterday with one of my people (I hate calling them patients. The other option is client. I hate that too. I don’t think either work to capture the relationship). He was feeling especially anxious, so we started to unpack what was going on for him.
He had reached out a few days earlier to the partners at his company to talk with them about stake in the company. He was waiting for their response and imagining scenarios over and over in his mind, most of which were negative. My time alone is coming to a close. The family gets back on Friday. I’m really excited to see them, but I have enjoyed the time a lot more than I expected to. I worked a ton on the Love After Kids Relationship Toolkit online program as well as on an intro course, which is a relationship challenge. Both will be launching in the first quarter of 2017.
I also read a book called Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza. The last part of the book is a 4-week meditation program to help to implement the ideas that he writes about. I’m currently finishing week 1 of the program. |
